About this Event
Join us on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 3:00 pm MST for an In-Person event at the Calgary Microsoft Office! The purpose of this group is to discuss and keep up with the ever-shifting landscape of the Microsoft Fabric Experience.

3:00 PM – 3:30 PM – Doors open and networking
3:30 PM – 4:30 PM – Building a Data Competency Around the Microsoft Suite of Data Products – Chris Sorensen
This session explores the strategic implementation of a robust data competency within organizations that are looking to or already leverage the Microsoft suite of data and analytics products such as Excel, Power BI, Fabric, and Azure. We will describe the many roles that needed to support a well functioning analytics competency across and organization, and not just in IT. Most importantly, we emphasize the importance of empathy across a practice, as you progress on the path to excellence. Attendees will gain an understanding of how to build a cohesive data framework that integrates these tools from the perspective of people and process. We will delve into methodologies for training teams to effectively utilize Excel for complex data analysis, creating impactful visualizations with Power BI, and utilizing Fabric for data integration. Join us to discover best practices, overcome common challenges, and unlock the full potential of Microsoft’s data ecosystem.

The Calgary Fabric User Group is dedicated to fostering a community of professionals in Calgary and the surrounding areas who are passionate about staying updated on the dynamic changes in the Microsoft analytics stack. Our goal is to facilitate discussions on the usage and advancements of various tools, including but not limited to Power BI, OneLake, Data Factory, Synapse Data Engineering, Synapse Data Science, Synapse Data Warehouse, Synapse Real-Time Analytics, Data Activator, Copilot in Fabric, and Purview
