This Power BI course is focused on introducing users to the fundamentals of Power BI and DAX in a hands-on and interactive environment. Throughout the course, users will be guided through an end-to-end analytics scenario using a combination of lectures, demos, and hands-on labs to reinforce understanding of the data analysis process. Learn Power BI skills that will get you started with self-service business analytics and sharing discovered insights.
After completing this course, feel confident that you can create your own projects in Power BI.

The course objectives are to import, transform and cleanse data using Power Query Editor, build a data model for self-service reporting, manipulate the model with DAX , publish and share visualizations.
You will get 4 half days of an all access pass with our experienced instructors in this course. In other words, this is a 4 day course that runs from 9 am to 12:15 pm MST with time built in for asking questions.
There are no prerequisites for this course but previous experience with an analytics tool such as Excel is an asset. More realistically, the prerequisites for this course are a fun attitude and a desire to learn!
By taking both the Introduction to Power BI and Intermediate Power BI courses, your employer may qualify for the Canada Alberta Job Grant for training funding. You have to start the first courses within 6 month of being approved for the funding and complete the second course within 52 weeks of the introductory training course start date.
This course is currently only available online (see COVID notice). Our online courses are run in Mountain Time and can be accessed around the world. When in-person events are available, our locations are Calgary and Edmonton.

As an adjunct instructor of the Business Intelligence program at SAIT, he plays a significant role in shaping new talent in Calgary’s emerging tech sector. Following his lifelong learning approach, Chris also coordinates both Power Platform and Azure Analytics User Groups, providing a space dedicated to knowledge-sharing and growing Alberta’s tech community. Jarid McKenzie, BSc. In Mathematics and Statistics and certified in Business Intelligence from the University of Calgary, is co-owner and Lead Analytics Architect for Iteration Insights.
Jarid has eight years of experience working in the digital space, including teaching Business Intelligence at the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Currently, he is on the advisory board for the Business Intelligence Program at SAIT and is a mentor to many graduates from this course. As an active member of the Power Platform and Azure Analytics User Groups in Calgary, Jarid loves to share his knowledge with the community by speaking at major data analytics events, such as the Power Platform World Tour held in Calgary last year.
Tutu is an Analytics Consultant with Iteration Insights. He is a beloved instructor of the Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Reporting course at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
There, Tutu teaches the ins and outs of Power BI to Alberta’s emerging tech talent. He started teaching analytics with a Microsoft Power BI focus back in 2018 and has since delivered trainings to public and corporate clients in various organizations. As an instructor and continuous learner, he enjoys teaching in an active learning environment where the knowledge transfer goes both ways. In his classroom, he utilizes visualizations in explaining theory and concepts, and demonstrates cause-and-effect to effectively connect knowledge.
