User Groups in the Calgary Analytics Community

Since 2018, Iteration Insights has conducted both the Calgary Azure Analytics User Group and the Calgary Power Platform User Group. These user group sessions have recently been hosted online quarterly via Microsoft Teams.

The Calgary Azure Analytics User Group and the Calgary Power Platform User Group have brought together an engaged and thriving community of analytics professionals in both Calgary and the data analytics space. These user groups serve as a hub for individuals to come together, share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate towards finding solutions to common challenges.

By facilitating regular sessions each quarter, these user groups offer a unique opportunity for members to broaden their professional network and establish meaningful relationships that can prove to be highly beneficial for their careers and workspaces. The user groups create a space where attendees can gain insights into the latest trends and technologies in the analytics industry, learn from experts, and enhance their skills and knowledge.

Sessions of the Calgary Azure Analytics User Group and Calgary Power Platform User Group bring together a diverse range of speakers and topics related to the Analytics space and Microsoft Suite of Products.

The past sessions have covered a wide range of topics, including Composite Models in Power BI with Alberto Ferrari, Azure Synapse Link with Scott Sewell, Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and Data Fabric with James Serra, and many more. In case you have missed any of these sessions, the recordings of past user group sessions are available and can be accessed by clicking here.

These user groups foster a culture of learning, growth, and thought leadership that has positively impacted the analytics community. They have been an excellent resource for professionals seeking to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry, expand their knowledge, and build relationships with like-minded individuals.

User Group Changes

As of January 5th, there will be changes coming to our user group community.

Calgary Power Platform User Group

Calgary Power Platform User Group is Seeking New Leadership. Iteration Insights is stepping away from leading the Calgary Power Platform User Group and managing the LinkedIn and Community pages. The Calgary Power Platform User Group itself will remain the same with some changes around how the group is facilitated. All of our future user group events will be redirected to the Calgary Fabric User Group.

With these changes, we are seeking new management for the Calgary Power Platform User Group. If any community members are interested in taking on leading the Calgary Platform User Group community, they can contact Renata Kalsbeek, user group leader from Iteration Insights.

We are stepping away from the Power Platform User Group as our main expertise lies in the analytics space. Many of the sessions we provided were tailored mainly to the Power BI part of the Power Platform. With Power BI now being absorbed into Fabric, it does not make sense for us to continue for the content of this group to switch to a Fabric focus.

We feel this is the perfect opportunity to let another professional or organization that works in the Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages and Power Virtual Agents space come in and share knowledge and connection for these tools.

Calgary Azure Analytics User Group

Calgary Azure Analytics User Group is now the Calgary Fabric User Group. The Calgary Azure Analytics User Group will now be known as the Calgary Fabric User Group and this rebranding will be visible on our community LinkedIn page and Microsoft Community Page. These two pages will be the primary channels for sharing information on upcoming events, community updates, networking opportunities, and other relevant news.

This community is intended to provide opportunities for personal and professional development, as well as access to resources and expertise. We hope to build the Calgary Fabric User Group Community as a space and resource for all community members.
